Strategic Radar Market Shares Buzz Trends

Relationship ID Application

Companies have relationships.  Sometimes they are related by virtue of showing up in the same space to sell a like service to a customer where they compete.  Sometimes they partner to better serve a customer.  Sometimes they do both.   TrendIQ measures the strength of the relationships between companies by observing how often they are discussed together on the Internet.  Even more valuable however, is access to how these relationships are changing - trends - which TrendIQ also provides.

Current Month Example - IBM Relationships in the Team Collaboration Space

This graphic shows the relationship between each company in the Team Collaboration Space with IBM.  Click on the thumbnail to enlarge.  The scale measurement is in log-log form so that all the information can be graphically presented.  The first thing to notice is that the relationship of IBM with IBM is 1.0 as expected.  The next strongest relationship with IBM is Microsoft, and so on.  A TrendIQ Relationship ID analysis includes charts like this for each company in the analysis set.

Trend Information - Alfresco - Changes in Company Relationships

While the chart above is for the most recent month, connecting the monthly results and developing trends is much more valuable.  This chart shows relationships between a company called Alfresco in the Team Collaboration Space and a set of other companies in the same Space.  The average of all companies is also shown.  While the information presented is only for a few months, over time changes provide clues as to underlying changes in the industry of interest
